The Asab Directors would like to congratulate Nick Smallwood on his appointment as The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) Chief Executive and Head of the Government Project Delivery Function.

Accordingly, Nick will be stepping down with immediate effect from the Asab Advisory Board, and we would like to take this opportunity to thank Nick for all his hard work and guidance, and wish him well in his new role.

Asab are delighted to announce the formation of its Advisory Board to support, assist and advise the Board of Directors of Asab in the development of the Company and its direction of travel.

The Advisory Board Members bring significant experience and depth of capability to the leadership team with their knowledge of the energy industries needs and trends, ensuring that Asab will remain at the forefront of delivering business ambitious solutions to our clients.

Asab welcomes our first Advisory Board Members:

Jon Mason

Jon is a senior executive with global experience in operating Upstream and Downstream assets. He has spent his career responsible for frontline operations, and is passionate about Safety and Reliability.

Jon is a Refinery professional and has held senior positions in Engineering and Operations in Europe, Malaysia and the USA, including VP Engineering in the US, based at Deer Park, and COO / Site Manager Stanlow for Essar Oil UK. He has worked as an Engineer in Maintenance/Turnarounds and Projects.

Jon will be using his exceptional knowledge of assets to develop and support Asab’s Asset Management Streamlined Solutions designed to enhance margins and improve asset reliability and sustainability.

Rab Speirs

Rab is a seasoned global executive with over forty years of experience in general management, exploration, commercial negotiations, project management, operations and P&L.

He most recently served for ten years as Senior Vice President, Eastern Operations of Harvest Natural Resources, Inc., and had previously been President of Marathon Petroleum Russia and Executive VP Yukos E&P responsible for engineering and construction.

Rab brings significant experience and knowledge of the global E&P energy sector business and will be supporting Asab in the development of our energy business and entry into new sectors such as renewable energy.

Nick Smallwood

Nick is a senior executive with global experience in delivering multi billion $ projects and programme of works, including leading and developing the teams of people involved with Projects.

Nick recently left Shell after 37 years where he had been VP for Project Engineering - Shells Chief Project Engineer as well as Global Discipline Head for the Project Engineering global community.

Nick was also responsible for defining “how” projects were delivered and for developing a step change in project performance including establishing the “digital Backbone” for future project delivery.

Nick will be supporting the Asab approach to streamlining project   delivery including the development and implementation of the Asab Integrated Project Management System.
